Welcome to the Veterinary Museum

The Complutense Veterinary Museum is located in the University City and at the start of the Senda Real, also known as GR 124, which was the royal path from the Palacio Real to the Prado and which has now been reconverted into nature walk by the Municipality of Madrid. The Complutense Veterinary Museum houses one of the most valuable collections from a veterinary point of view and is of great interest to the history of science. The collections allow examining the evolution of the Veterinary profession as a science and its activities, contributions and areas of work: the animal clinic, the production, food inspection, the environment… all is reflected using more than 3000 pieces.

The museum as a project of recovery and dissemination of veterinary heritage is an initiative of the Faculty of Veterinary Science and the Vice-Chancellor’s Office for Culture and Sport of the University Complutense in collaboration with the Complutense Veterinary Hospital where the initial site of the museum is hosted. Many teachers and researchers from other faculties are involved and it is funded by the collaboration of public and private entities and by donations and sponsorship from individuals and supporters of the museum.
