BATIRKO fed on a standard diet: Obesity susceptibility and insulin resistance upon aging. Effect on vascular insulin response.

BATIRKO fed on a high fat diet: Adiposity, insulin resistance, compensatory mechanism of insulin resistance, endothelial dysfunction and cardiovascular damage.

Amelioration of cardiovascular damage by moderate compensatory mechanisms to insulin resistance associated to adiposity (to be implemented)

B.- iLIRKO: A model of progression to type 2 diabetes.

Role of hepatic Insulin resistance in the beta-cell hyperplasia: The liver-pancreas endocrine axis.

Role of hyperinsulinemia in the vascular insulin resistance.

Aggravation of basal cardiovascular damage observed in ApoE (-/-) transgenic mice by robust hyperinsulinemia induced by hepatic insulin resistance (to be implemented)



Role of IR isoforms and IGF-1 in the regulation of glucose uptake in pancreatic beta cells.

Role of TSC1/TSC2 in the regulation of glucose or insulin signaling pathways and proliferation in pancreatic beta cells.

Role of long chain fatty acids accumulation in triggering insulin resistance in cardiomyocytes and smooth muscle vascular cells: Regulation by UCPs and PGC-1alfa.

Role of adipokines in the vasodilatation insulin signaling and vascular risk damage expression in mouse endothelial cells (to be implemented).
