The Vittore Branca Center at Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Venice promotes a series of interdisciplinary scholarships (for 3 or 6 month research residencies) aimed at international PhD and post-doc scholars willing to spend a research residency in Venice, working in the Fondazione libraries and living in our Residence on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Research projects focused on early printed books held in the Fondazione Giorgio Cini libraries are welcome. Three research guidelines were defined:
Ancient book collections in the 20th century
Illustration and mise en page of Venetian 15th and 16th century books
20th century early printed books trade, through booksellers' catalogues
The Fondazione Giorgio Cini libraries hold over 3,000 volumes featuring illuminated incunabula and cinquecentine printed in Venice, featuring works by Dante, Boccaccio, Petrarca, Holy Bibles, and volumes related to popular culture - we suggest you browse through EDIT 16 and OPAC Venezia to learn about the early printed books held in our libraries.
