I spent 10 weeks last summer at University Western Ontario in London, Canada. A pair of red-tailed hawks had a nest in the woods near the campus & I often saw them flying over-head and, sometimes, sitting on the roof of University buildings screeching at each other.
I became bit obsessed about seeing them up-close-and-personal, and succeeded one Sunday afternoon when they were sitting together on a fence around the baseball diamond on the playing fields. This foto was the last of about 12 that I took as I walked slowly towards them across the field. I particularly like the fact that the bird fixated me with an ‘evil eye', immediately before flying off.

El verano pasado pasé 10 semanas en la Universidad Western Ontario en Londres, Canada. Un par de halcones de cola roja había anidado en los bosques cerca del campus y con frecuencia los veía volando sobre mi cabeza, a veces, posados sobre los tejados de los edificios de la universidad chillándose uno a otro.

Me llegó a obsesionar un poco el verlos tan cerca y sentir su presencia casi humana, y ocurrió que una tarde de domingo, cuando estaban posados juntos sobre la malla metálica que rodea el campo de béisbol en los campos de deporte, les disparé unas doce fotos. Esta fue la última que hice mientras caminaba por el campo, lentamente hacia ellos. Particularmente me gusta el hecho de que el pájaro me miró fijamente, con un "ojo endiablado" inmediatamente antes de salir volando.
